It's a really nice place with really nice and welcoming people from different places (there are many communities and they really are amazing), but you'll only be able to see that once you settle in. Having that said, if french isn't an issue you'd like to deal with, go elsewhere because nice places and nice people can be found everywhere if you look for them.

LEARN FRENCH! I know it's hard and it sucks, but it's necessary. Besides that, Montreal is a beautiful and accepting city.
